The VisFBG optical sensor is an innovative optical sensor integrated within a standard optical fibre. It reflects light over a narrow bandwidth and responds reliably to temperature and strain fluctuations. Multiple FBG sensors can be inscribed in one optical fibre strand, and interrogated simultaneously using a single instrument. Thus, strain and/or temperature distribution can be monitored within structures of different sizes and shapes at very low cost
