xDAS is a FIBERVIS 3rd generation interferometric distributed acoustic sensing system, made to have the lowest sensitivity to laser phase noise via a novel signal processing. Ideally, it is important to lower laser phase noise to achieve optimum measurement performance in a wide range of high to low frequency events. The features of such a system produces highly precise measurements over long distances. xDAS is made unique that it does not only provide the above features, but is made open and flexible to all applications, providing raw strain data and therefore, providing the best performance to cost ratio.
Figure above shows an example of xDAS 3D phase-detector strain output (a) in time domain and (b) in frequency domain. The above strain measurements are indicative. xDAS is capable of measuring strains of nano-scale of tiny deformations.
Phase based optical time-domain reflectometry (φ-OTDR). Induced strain measured using phase of the Rayleigh backscattered light.
Nano-Strain measurements in time and in frequency domain.
